In this interview, Alison Porter of Dirty Dishes dishes the dirt on how the band got its name, how they work out their wonderful harmonies and why they love country and bluegrass music. She also reveals a surprising secret about some musical moonlighting by one member of this highly talented trio.

Acoustic country and bluegrass band, The Griddle Pickers is dedicated to producing organic, homegrown music steeped in the area’s diverse mix of musical traditions.
They’re a tight and close-knit group, with brothers Sean and Dale Patrick providing lightning-quick pickin’, supported by bassist Mike Milner and his guitar-strummin’ daughter, Sarah.
With vocal talent ranging from bass to soprano, all four members sing, blending their voices to create rich harmonies.
Playing traditional and original bluegrass, country and folk tunes, they’re willing to break the rules and take risks and produce delightful musical surprises.
They have been performing across the region, and were recently interviewed for Bluegrass Canada Magazine.

This contemporary folk duo from Los Angeles sports a fresh sound with beautifully harmonized vocals, Acoustic roots group, My Sweet Patootie, brings twining vocal harmonies, monstrous finger style guitar, fiddle, percussion and abundant charisma together in one perfect package.

Singing in angelic harmony and with infectious joy, Dala makes instant fans of first time listeners.
They’re just as entertaining between songs too, with amusing banter and funny stories making every show unique.
Best friends since high school, this duo has gone on to release five albums and tour extensively.
Back when they were just starting out, they performed at Mariposa as Showcase auditioned artists. They were later welcomed back as established artists. Now, they’re making a triumphant return.
Dala has earned recognition and acclaim on the North American music scene.
Mariposa is proud of the part it played in launching the career of these talented artists.
Ennis: Flawless Harmonies and Engaging Performances

Newfoundland has always always been known as a rich source of folk music, and that definitely holds true with this dynamic duo from ‘The Rock’.
There`s also something special that happens when family members sing together. Ennis, two sisters from St. John’s, prove this with each performance of their flawless harmonies laid over music that is true to their Newfoundland musical roots.
They draw on traditional maritime influences but also infuse contemporary elements into their music with a passion that comes out in each note.
Ennis, and their earlier incarnation, The Ennis Sisters, has received a lot of acclaim including a Juno award, SOCAN award, and multiple ECMA and Music NL awards.
From Canada to the Middle East, Scandinavia, UK, and throughout the United States, Ennis has gained a well-earned reputation for their engaging live performances.
