You Can Perform at Mariposa Too!

Posted on June 18, 2013

performMariposaEveryone knows about the really great musical programming at Mariposa Folk Festival, but did you know you can play at the festival too?

This year, Mariposa has introduced a new feature called the Jamming Stage, where anyone can go anytime to play and join in with others. This acoustic stage will be located beside the lake and behind the Main Stage.

Of course, a long-standing and popular feature of the Festival is the Sign-Up Stage stationed in Alice’s Tent, managed by the Orillia Folk Society. There, you can sign-up for a twenty-minute slot to perform for the gathered audience. This stage has amplification. Make sure you sign up early because the schedule fills up quickly.

There will also be a larger, covered Hootenanny Stage this year for audience members who are camping. Located in the Barnfield Social Acoustic Camping Zone, it is a place where any camper, regardless of zone, can perform or jam acoustically with other campers into the evening. This stage will present acoustic festival programming during the day, but is restricted to campers in the evening.

Also new this year, Mariposa Folk Festival is offering an Instrument Lock-Up service for the general audience and for campers. The service will be open during regular festival operating hours so you don’t have to leave your instruments in the hot sun, in your car or tent.

Play some tunes, do a little dance, perform some spoken word, or do whatever you want. These stages are for you!
