Alex Nicol
Alex Nicol is a Canadian-German folk singer/songwriter currently based in Montreal. Alex has been active in the Montreal DIY music community for over a decade, having played with Montreal-based acts like Whitney K and Tess Roby, as well as fronting his own bands Hoan and Kurvi Tasch. He has toured across Canada and the USA, appearing at festivals like SXSW, Waking Windows, Pop Montreal, M for Montreal, Ottawa Jazz Fest, Sled Island, and more.
Alex’s first solo record, All For Nada (2020), garnered support from La Blogotheque who said “this album is a masterpiece” and asked Alex to perform one of their first “Stay Away” shows. Other support came from La Face B, Under the Radar, Exclaim!, and Cult MTL.
Alex went viral on TikTok, amassing over 1.2 million views to date for a video of him performing his original song “Bridge Back To Me”. In 2022, Alex was invited to support The House of Love (Creation Records) on their 30th Anniversary Tour across North America, playing rooms like The Regent in Los Angeles and the Gramercy Theater in New York. In 2023, Alex released Been A Long Year Vol. 1 and 2, a collection of deeply personal songs that showcase his haunting voice and deft lyricism.
